NUFH to face a pair of top-15 teams this weekend

Northeastern will start the weekend off at No. 10 BC followed by a home contest against No. 14 Princeton on Canine Companions Day on Sunday

Promotions     Canine Companions Day (Oct. 15 | 1 p.m.)
• The Northeastern field hockey team is inviting all fans to bring their furry, four-paw companions to with them to Dedham Field to participate in Canine Companions
• All dogs (and their owners) in attendance will receive a free Northeastern bandana and dog treats while supplies last

 
BOSTON – The Northeastern field hockey team is set to face a pair of top-15 ranked opponents this weekend in No. 10 Boston College and No. 14 Princeton.
 
The Huskies will begin the weekend at Boston College at 6 p.m. on Friday before returning home for Sunday's 1 p.m. contest against Princeton on Canine Companions Day at Dedham Field.
 
On Sunday, the Northeastern field hockey team is inviting all fans to bring their furry, four-paw companions to with them to Dedham Field to participate in Canine Companions. All dogs (and their owners) in attendance will receive a free Northeastern bandana and dog treats.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• The Huskies started Friday night off with a bang with an 8-1 victory over Hofstra
• The eight Husky goals were the most ever scored in a CAA conference game and the seven-goal margin of victory tied the largest by a Husky squad in a CAA game
• Three different Huskies finished with five points in the game
• On a rainy Monday, the Huskies took on No. 25 Boston University falling 6-1 to the Terriers as Jamie Bartucca extended her point-streak to eight games in the loss
 
NORTHEASTERN VS.
 
#10 BOSTON COLLEGE
• BC is 9-5 on the season with all nine victories coming in non-conference play
• Twelve different Eagles have scored this season led by Brooke Matherson who has five goals and an assist while Sarah Dwyer has played every minute in goal with a 1.71 GAA
• The Huskies lead the series with the Eagles 23-15-1 and have met each and every season, with the exception of 1982
• The Huskies have now faced off against a ranked BC the last six meetings with the last meeting against an unranked Eagle team coming in 2011
• The Eagles have won four of the last five meetings between the two teams
 
#14 PRINCETON
• NU and Princeton will meet for the fifth time in history and the first time since 2005
• The series between the two teams is currently tied at two-all with Northeastern winning the last two meetings
• Princeton will mark the third Ivy League team the Huskies will face this season
• The Tigers are led by Ryan McCarthy who has 10 goals and two assists on the year
• In goal, Grace Baylis has played every minute of action with a 2.25 GAA and 33 saves
• Princeton is led by former UMass head coach Carla Tagliente who has a 2-3 all-time record against the Huskies
 
TOPS IN THE NATION
• Nine different Huskies have scored in 2017, with four tallying 5+ goals
• As a team, the Huskies rank second in the CAA and 10th nationally with 3.31 gpg
• Jamie Bartucca leads the Husky scorers and has a career-high 13 goals through 13 games, which tops the CAA and ranks fifth in the nation with 1.00 gpg in 2017
• Bartucca has also added six assists on the year for a total of 32 points, or 2.46 per game which tops the conference and ranks 7th nationally 
• Bartucca's 13 goals are the most scored by a Huskies since All-Americans Crystal Poland and Deirdre Duke had 28 and 14 goals respectively in 2012
 
NORTHEASTERN VS. BOSTON
• This weekend, NU will face the final of the three Boston schools in Boston College
• The Huskies and Boston area schools have had a long and storied rivalry dating back to the Huskies' first season as a varsity program in 1980
• NU holds a 73-50-1 record over its Boston area foes

AGAINST THE IVIES
• Since the Huskies began as a varsity program in 1980, they have competed against an Ivy League opponent in every season, except for 1981
• This season, Northeastern will face off against three different Ivies for the first time since the 2008 season when the Huskies took on Dartmouth, Brown and Harvard
• The last time the Huskies took on Harvard, Brown and Princeton all in the same year was in 2005
• The field hockey team faced five different Ivies in the 1988 season capping the third place finish off with a 1-0 victory over Penn, one of 20 different seasons Northeastern has swept all of their Ivy League opponents faced
 
TO BE THE BEST.... 
• BC & Princeton mark the 4th and 5th ranked program the Huskies will face this season
• This weekend is the first NU has had to face back-to-back ranked teams this season
• Eight teams Northeastern have faced or will face this season are currently ranked in the NFHCA Coaches Poll
• Beginning with BU (Oct. 9), the Huskies are set to take on six ranked teams in seven contests finishing up against the reigning national champions and No. 8 Delaware
• Northeastern is looking for its first win over a ranked team since a 3-2 victory over No. 8 Boston College on Oct. 5, 2014
