GOAL DESCRIPTIONS
Â
FIRST HALF
Northeastern 1-0: Northeastern took a 1-0 lead when
Ffion Thompson tallied her third goal of the season, all coming on penalty stroke opportunities. The penalty stroke came after
Aniek van de Graaf's attempt on the Huskies' third penalty corner of the game was kicked by a Dragon in front of the goal. Thompson's shot ricocheted off of the left pipe, hit the right pipe and pinged back into the goal past a diving Gilchrist.
Â
SECOND HALF
Northeastern 2-0: Senior
Kristin Abreu made it a two-goal game just a couple of minutes into the second half putting home a shot for her fourth goal of the season. After
Jamie Bartucca scooped up a Drexel turnover by the 23-meter line on the Drexel offensive end, the redshirt senior took it down the field, dashing past the Drexel defense and into the circle where she found an awaiting Abreu. Bartucca crossed a pass directly to an awaiting Abreu who smashed it home for the score.
Â
Northeastern 3-0: After O'Conor drew the Huskies' sixth penalty corner of the game, she followed that up with the goal off of the short corner situation.
Mia Martin sent the direct insert to the freshman van de Graaf who stepped up inside the circle and sent a hard shot through the circle. O'Conor raced in and behind Gilchrist and redirected the shot past the goalie for her seventh goal of the year.
