DEDHAM, Mass. – Six different Northeastern field hockey players scored in an 8-1 thrashing of Hofstra on Friday night at Dedham Field.

The eight goals were the most the Huskies have ever scored in a CAA conference game while the seven-goal margin of victory ties the largest by a Husky squad in CAA action. (Northeastern previously defeated Drexel 7-0 on Oct. 6, 2006).

Jamie Bartucca started the scoring onslaught off in the 11th minute of play with her 12th goal of the season, the most by any Husky since Crystal Poland netted 28 goals in 2012, while Deirdre Duke added another 14 during that season. The senior captain finished the night with the goal and added three assists throughout the game to lead the Huskies.

Both Laura MacLachlan and June Curry-Lindahl added a pair of goals, the second career multi-goal game for MacLachlan and the fourth of Curry-Lindahl's career.

Aniek van de Graaf earned her first career goal in the victory while Kristin Abreu added her third goal of the season.

Julia Gluyas spent all 70 minute in goal making three saves and allowing just one goal. The Hofstra goalkeepers split the time in goal with Carys Swan getting the start as she allowed three goals and made four saves. Cecelia DeSimone saw 31 minutes of relief action allowing five goals and making three saves.

GOAL DESCRIPTIONS

FIRST HALF
Northeastern 1-0: Bartucca got things going for the Huskies netting her 12th goal of the season in the 11th minute of action. Bartucca chipped in a shot from the left side. Bartucca found herself in the right place at the right time once again as she was settled by the left side of the goal, gathered in a pass from Laura MacLachlan who reeled in the rebound off of Aniek van de Graaf's penalty corner shot and sent it on its way.

Northeastern 2-0: The Huskies lead became two goals when MacLachlan got her first goal of the game just five minutes later as the Huskies made the most of another penalty corner opportunity. Meg Barrett who gathered the insertion kicked it out to MacLachlan, who passed it back to Barrett who sent it back to her teammate who finally sent it in past a slew of Hofstra defenders for the score.

Northeastern 3-0: In the 23rd minute, June Curry-Lindahl earned her seventh goal of the season gathering the rebound off of MacLachlan's shot, dribbling and giving herself up some space to backhand a chip shot up and over the goalie for the score.

Northeastern 4-0: In the 30th minute of play, MacLachlan earned her second goal of the game ripping a shot off of the Huskies third penalty corner of the night directly into the back of the goal for a four-goal lead. MacLachlan's shot was stopped by Ffion Thompson and inserted by Bartucca who each earned assists on the play.

Northeastern 5-0: The Huskies made it a five-goal lead at the half with another penalty corner goal this time coming from Aniek van de Graaf who tallied her first career goal on the score. The penalty corner was the exact same set up as the previous score, but with van de Graaf as the shooter for the Huskies.

SECOND HALF
Northeastern 6-0: Northeastern made it a six-goal game very early into the second half when Curry-Lindahl tallied her second goal of the game using another chip shot up and over the Hofstra goalie just over a minute into the half. Camille O'Conor and her speed sent a beautiful cross through the top of the circle that was sent past Bartucca and gathered in by Curry-Lindahl who decided to chip up the shot up from the left side of the circle and into the far right corner of the goal.

Hofstra 6-1: Hofstra erased the shutout bid when Anne van den Boomen took a pass from Frankie O'Brien off of a penalty corner and sent it through the circle and into the back of the net.

Northeastern 7-1: Abreu built the lead back back up to six goals whacking a direct shot off of a penalty corner sent in by Bartucca that slipped through a handful of Hofstra defenders and into the goal.

Northeastern 8-1: Camille O'Conor tallied the historic goal for the Huskies, her fifth of the season, as she got in the exact right place dead center in front of the goal, redirecting a centering pass from Curry-Lindahl as she dribbled up the baseline. A Hofstra defender got a stick on the shot attempt but it wasn't enough.
