Box Score NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The Northeastern Huskies took the Weber State Wildcats into a fifth and decisive set, but the Wildcats came away with the win on Friday.
 
Northeastern vs. Weber State

Northeastern took the first set, but then dropped the next two. The Huskies fought back, winning the fourth to force a fifth set. The final set went back-and-forth, before Weber State took the match with a 15-13 set win.
 
Senior Brigitte Burcescu led the Huskies with 18 kills. Freshman Athena Ardila and sophomore Natalie Shollin were close behind her with 15 kills and 14 kills, respectively. Freshman Gabrielle Tschannen led the match in blocks with four.
 
Junior Gabrielle Eyl was once again stellar from the back row. She racked up 31 digs, breaking her career high that she set on Thursday against Pepperdine. Burcescu racked up three aces in the match, one off her career high.

Setters freshman Samantha Shupe and Senior Kristen Walding combined for 52 assists during the match.

Set One Recap:

• 25-23, Northeastern
• Gabrielle Tschannen's kill gave the huskies a 10-6 lead in the first set
• Weber State came back to take a 22-21 lead
• A Shollin-Burcescu block gave Northeastern a set point 

Set Two Recap:

• 25-22, Weber State

• Burcescu's three aces helped Northeastern to go on a 8-0 run to start the second set

• Weber State came back to win the set and to tie the match at 1-1

Set Three Recap:

• 25-20, Weber State
• Tschannen's seventh kill of the match helped cut the Wildcats lead to four
• Weber State took a 2-1 match lead with a third set win

Set Four Recap:

• 25-19, Northeastern
• The Huskies went on a  5-1 run to take an 8-4 lead over Weber State
• Kills from Ardila and Burcescu helped give Northeastern a 14-8 lead
• Northeastern forces a fifth set with a set win

Set Five Recap:

• 15-13, Weber State
• An ace from Magbanua gave Northeastern a 10-6 lead
• Weber State came back to tie the set at 10-10
• The Wildcats took the fifth set and the match
