BOSTON – The Huskies get set to host their Beantown competitors in the New England Challenge this weekend. Northeastern will face crosstown rivals, Boston College, Harvard and UMass Lowell in the Cabot Center.
Last Time Out:
Northeastern took down New Hampshire in a thrilling five-set victory on Tuesday. This win extended the Huskies home-undefeated streak to 14-0, dating back to November 5, 2015.
Three Huskies posted double-doubles in the five-set victory,
Athena Ardila,
Samantha Shupe and Underdown. It was the first of Ardila's and Shupe's careers, and the second of the season for Underdown.
Ardila racked up 14 kills and 15 digs, while Shupe recorded 37 assists and 14 digs. Underdown tallied 14 kills and 16 digs.
Gabrielle Tschannen also had a great match for the Red and Black, posting nine kills and nine blocks.
Northeastern vs. Harvard:
This will be the 33nd matchup between Northeastern and Harvard, with Northeastern leading the series record 28-4. The Huskies and Crimson last faced off in 2016, where Harvard took the match 3-1.
The Crimson competed in the Holiday Inn Invitational this past weekend, where they finished the weekend with two wins (Tennessee Tech, Wright State) and one loss (West Virginia).
Northeastern vs. Boston College:
This will be the 29th time the Huskies and Eagles have faced off, with the series record tied at 18-11 in the Huskies' favor. Northeastern and Boston College last played in 2016, where the Huskies took the match 3-0.
Boston College last competed in the Cherry & White Challenge, where it finished the weekend with one win (Temple) and one loss (Delaware).
Northeastern vs. UMass Lowell:
This will be the 11th matchup between Northeastern and UMass Lowell, with the Huskies leading the series 10-0. The Huskies and the River Hawks last faced off in 2016, where Northeastern took the match 3-0.
The River Hawks competed in the Texas State Tournament this past weekend, where they finished the weekend with three losses (Houston Baptist, Texas State, Southern Methodist).
