GOAL DESCRIPTIONS
Â
FIRST HALF
Maine 1-0: The Black Bears got out to a 1-0 lead when Emily Hindle tipped a shot from the left side of the goal using Samantha Wagg's shot off of the corner that was drifting wide and converting it into the first goal of the day.
Â
Maine 2-0: Lydia Gavner made it a 2-0 game when she stole a pass in the Huskies' offensive third and dribbled it nearly the length of the field, beating a defender and hitting the back of the goal.
Â
Following Gavner's goal the Huskies called a timeout to regroup. With just over three minutes to go it looked as though Northeastern got on the board, but the Huskies' would-be goal by CAA Rookie of the Week
Camille O'Conor was waved off and a foul was called instead.
Â
SECOND HALF
Maine 3-0: After a pair of huge saves by
Julia Ennis, who entered the game at the half, Maine was able to take advantage of the free hit off of the reset and get the ball into the circle and into the back of the net in the 63
rd minute for the insurance goal down the stretch
Â
Maine 4-0: Â The Black Bears added another goal with less than five minutes remaining in the game as a backhanded shot was deflected in by Hana Davis at the right side of the goal for the score
Â
Northeastern 4-1: The Huskies got on the board with just over two minutes to go as
Jamie Bartucca netted her ninth goal of the season getting her stick on a pass into the circle as she redirected a shot past the Maine goalie erasing the shutout bid. Bartucca is now one shy of tying her career high for goals in a season.
Â
The Huskies will return home to take on their second America East opponent of the weekend when they play host to Vermont on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Dedham Field. The Huskies will honor the 1988 Final Four team at halftime of Sunday's game.Â
