DURHAM, N.H. --  The Northeastern women's volleyball team (5-5) dominated over New Hampshire (4-7) on Tuesday evening to even their record for the 2018 season with a 3-1 victory over the Wildcats at Lundholm Gymnasium.

Sophomore Athena Ardila had a career-breaking match with tallying 23 kills, 23.5 points and a .442 hitting percentage, while Hannah Boyd also had a strong match, hitting .404 percent for 23 kills and 23 points. Senior Gabrielle Eyl added 23 digs on defense while Samantha Shupe tabbed 15 digs and 45 assists.

An early discrepancy ruled in the Huskies' favor after head coach Ken Nichols disputed a call against them, resulting in the officials overturning the call to even the score at three. NU used the positive momentum to slightly pull ahead, but the Wildcats retook the lead early in the first set before securing the first set, 25-16.

Despite a slow start early in the second half, 6-2, the Huskies fought back midway through to take a 14-10 edge. Shupe and Eyl set the tone throughout the set by keeping rallies alive with six sets apiece as NU went on to win the second set, 25-17.

Although the Wildcats kept it close for much of the third set, Northeastern used its momentum from the second to pull away, 25-20, including a service ace from Eyl to bring the Huskies to set point. Ardila seemed unstoppable in the fourth set with ten kills to carry the team to a set and match win. The Huskies held an early, 6-0, lead over the Wildcats that set the tone for the set. Although UNH tied it up at eight, the Howlin' Huskies retook the lead and never looked back. They took the fourth set, 25-17 to win the match.

NU heads back home for the New England Challenge this weekend. They'll host Harvard on Friday at 7 p.m. ET, Boston College on Saturday at 7 p.m. and UMass Lowell on Sunday at 1 p.m.
