CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Despite nine saves from Julia Gluyas, the Northeastern field hockey team fell 2-0 Friday night to No. 18 Harvard at Berylson Field.

The loss marked the first in four trips across the river to Cambridge for the Huskies as they fall to 1-4 on the season, while Harvard improves to 4-1 in 2018.

Gluyas was instrumental in keeping the Huskies in the game making a handful of gutsy saves throughout her 70 minutes of action. On the offensive end, Harvard was able to outshoot the Huskies 19-5 and 11-2 on goal, while drawing seven penalty corners to Northeastern's three.

Bente van Vlijmen helped Harvard to get on the board first in the 22nd minute of action, scooping up a rebound of her own shot and putting it back for the score. The goal came after Harvard was about to draw three-straight penalty corners, setting up the Ivy League's leading scorer for the goal and the 1-0 halftime lead.

The Crimson made it a 2-0 game in the second half. On Harvard's seventh penalty corner of the game, Gluyas initially came up with a big save, but Kiley Allen gathered the rejection and pushed it forward and Kathleen Young used the scrum of players to deflect the pass into the bottom right corner of the goal for the insurance score.

The Huskies will round out the weekend with their first ever meeting against Columbia on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in New York City.
