NEW YORK CITY – Almost five minutes into the overtime period, Columbia had the ball and had beaten almost all of the Northeastern field hockey players, hoping for an open field and a clean shot at goalkeeper
Julia Gluyas, but
Rachel Campbell was ready and waiting, and the senior defender stepped up, cleanly stole the ball, drove into the circle and drew a penalty corner, helping to set up the ultimate game winner.
Off of the corner,
June Curry-Lindahl inserted a pass while
Ffion Thompson made a clean stop to perfectly set up their classmate
Laura MacLachlan for the game-winning strike as Northeastern walked away with a 3-2 victory over Columbia Sunday afternoon.
