BOSTON – The Northeastern field hockey team is ready to kick off a five-game homestand on Tuesday night when they welcome neighbor Boston College to town.
The Huskies and Eagles will faceoff for the 41
st time in program history, as Northeastern looks for its first win over Boston College since 2014, and its first win over a ranked program since the same game.
Tuesday night's game marks the start of three-straight game against ranked opponents for the Huskies, all coming within their home confines.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- Crosstown rivals in action… on a Tuesday?
For the first time since 2006, Northeastern will take on Boston College… on a weeknight. Back in 2006, the two teams squared off on a Wednesday night in Chestnut Hill.
HUSKIES VS. BOSTON COLLEGE
• The two teams, who have met 40 times in the past, will square off once again with a Tuesday night contest
• Tuesday's game is the first non-weekend meeting between the two teams since Sept. 6, 2006 (Wednesday)
• The Huskies lead the series with the Eagles 23-16-1 though BC has won five of the last six meetings between the two teams
• Last season, NU evened the score with 21 minutes left to go but No. 10 BC put in the game-winner with just under five minutes to play to earn the victory
THE EAGLES IN 2018
• The Eagles are 3-3 on the season, and have already had a pair of conference games thus far
• Boston College has earned victories over Quinnipiac, No. 18 Wake Forest and No. 25 Albany but fell to Maryland and Northwestern in opening weekend and to No. 8 Louisville the last time out
• Brooke Matherson leads the team with three goals and a pair of assists on the year while in goal Sarah Dwyer has played the majority of minutes, making 20 saves and earning a 3-2 record
- There's Something About June
• Last week,
June Curry-Lindahl netted her first career hattrick against No. 18 Wake Forest, then she added the first two goals of the Huskies' game at Columbia
• In doing so, she the senior recorded five-straight goals for the Huskies, the first Northeastern athlete to do so since Crystal Poland netted five-straight against Virginia (2) and Michigan State (3) on Sept 8 & 9, 2012
• In addition, the five-point game was her second (at-least) five point game of the season and her fourth-career five-point game
• Curry-Lindahl's five goals, or 0.83 per game in 2018, ranks third in the CAA and 23rd nationally while her 1.83 points per game ranks fourth in the conference and 30th nationally
- Checking back in on the last time out
• The Huskies took on a pair of Ivy League opponents last time out earning a weekend split with Harvard and Columbia
• On Friday night, the Crimson got the best of the Huskies, coming away with a 2-0 shutout on their home turf in Cambrige
• Northeastern bounced back on Sunday afternoon, with an overtime victory over Columbia in New York City
•
June Curry-Lindahl got the Huskies on the board first in the 10th minute of action, and after Columbia took a 2-1 lead, Curry-Lindahl evened the score in the 66th minute of action forcing overtime where
