DEDHAM, Mass. – In a game that came down to the final seconds, ninth-ranked Boston College eked out a victory over the Northeastern Field Hockey team Tuesday night at Dedham Field. The Eagles scored the game-deciding goal in the 61
st minute of action, though the Huskies never gave up, giving themselves opportunities to score right down until the horn sounded.
Boston College improves to 4-3 on the year with the win, while Northeastern drops to 2-5 after having played their fourth ranked team of the season.
Rachel Campbell tallied her first career goal to even the score before the first half, while
Julia Gluyas made six saves on the night for Northeastern. On the Eagles side of things, Fusine Govaert and Cassidy Atchison tallied goals while Sarah Dwyer was only tested a pair of times on the night, making one save and allowing one goal.
After Boston College got out to a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute, Campbell slammed home a shot off of a penalty corner in the 31
st minute of action to even the score at one-apiece before the half.
Both teams played strong defense in the second half, as neither team was really able to get anything going until Boston College registered the game-winner with just under 10 minutes to play.
The Huskies are back at Dedham Field this weekend beginning Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. when they take on No. 18 Maine followed by the weekend finale against No. 10 Virginia Sunday at Noon.
