Harrisonburg, VA – The Northeastern volleyball team (7-7, 0-1) fell to James Madison (9-2, 1-0) on Friday evening, 3-1, in their first CAA match of the 2018 season.

Brianna Daphnis had a career-high showing against the Dukes, tabbing seven kills and 25 total attacks.
Athena Ardila paced the Huskies' offense with 18 kills for 19.5 points.
Gabrielle Eyl's defense kept NU alive in long rallies with 33 digs over four sets.

The Howlin' Huskies put up the first point of the match, giving them a lead in the first set they never let go. The Dukes kept the score close until an 8-3 run by the Huskies pulled them far ahead and led them to a win in the first set, 25-20.

The Dukes took early control of set two, pulling ahead early leading them to a 25-17 win. Alternatively, the Huskies took early control of set three with a 10-4 lead. However, the Dukes gained mid-set momentum to give them their second set win, 25-22.

The fourth set proved to be the closest, with the two teams with multiple rallying equalizers after they tied at 19. However, the JMU offense was able to outscore the Huskies, 25-23 and win the match. Â
