Huskies to Begin Conference Play at Hofstra, Host UMass Lowell This Weekend

BOSTON – The Northeastern field hockey team (1-7, 0-0 CAA) is set to start conference play at Hofstra (4-5, 0-0 CAA) on Friday, Sep. 30 at 3 p.m., before returning home to host UMass Lowell (7-2, 3-0 America East) on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 12 p.m. Both games will be streaming on FloLive.

Three Things to Know:

  • CAA Play: Aside from the shortened season in 2020 (two conference games canceled), the Huskies have put together four straight seasons with at least a .500-win percentage in the conference.

  • History: Northeastern holds a 19-7 record all-time over the Pride and an 8-3 record in Hempstead, N.Y.; with only four matchups against the Riverhawks, the Huskies have won three of the contests.

  • Strength of Schedule: The Huskies non-conference schedule has consisted of five teams with a winning record and three teams that were ranked in the top-25 at the time or are now in that ranking. Hofstra marks the first time in the last four games that the Northeastern opponent has been under .500.

Northeastern will play again when they host another non-conference opponent in Boston University on Oct. 9 at 1 p.m., at Dedham Field.
