NEWARK, Del. — For the third straight season, the Northeastern Huskies field hockey team (8-9, 3-3 CAA) travel to Fred P. Rullo Stadium in Delaware for the CAA Semifinal. The Huskies will take on the top-seeded Monmouth Hawks (11-5, 5-1 CAA) Friday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. The matchup will be streaming on FloSports.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- ROCKING AND ROWE-LLING: Graduate student back Lauren Rowe was named CAA Defensive Player of the Year, the league office announced Thursday morning. Rowe is the first-ever Husky to win the CAA Defensive Player of the Year and CAA Rookie of the Year after earning the award in 2019. She was also named to the All-CAA First Team along with senior forward Mak Graves. Graduate student back Cailin Hart and junior midfielder Lara Taylor were named to the All-CAA Second Team and freshman forward Alex Mega was named to the All-CAA Rookie Team.
- CAA HISTORY: The Huskies have traveled to the CAA Tournament 14 times in program history, and six times in the past seven seasons. Northeastern has played in six CAA Championship games, but have yet to earn their first CAA Championship. The Huskies last made the final in 2019 but fell 2-1 to Delaware.
- NOT AT THE HAWKS' NEST THIS TIME: Earlier this year, the Huskies fell 5-3 to the Hawks in West Long Branch, New Jersey on Oct. 13. Northeastern, down 4-0 entering the final period, rattled off three goals in the last 15 minutes but couldn't complete a comeback. Junior forward Lilly Smith scored twice and senior forward Sarah Coyle had a goal.
If the Huskies win Friday, they will then take on the winner of No. 2 Drexel and No. 3 William & Mary Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. in the CAA Championship game at Fred P. Rullo Stadium. That matchup will be streaming on FloSports.
