Rowe Named Defensive Player of the Year, Five Huskies Garner All-CAA Awards

RICHMOND, Va. — Graduate student back Lauren Rowe was named the Defensive Player of the Year by the CAA, the conference announced Thursday morning. Senior forward Mak Graves, along with Rowe, was named to the All-CAA First Team and junior midfielder Lara Taylor and graduate student back Cailin Hart were named to the All-CAA Second Team. Freshman forward Alex Mega earned a spot on the conference's All-Rookie Team.

Rowe scored nine goals, tied for best on the Huskies, added eight assists and racked up 26 points, finishing second in the CAA in points per game (1.63). Rowe also added three game-winning goals to her resume, bringing her career total to eight. She is the first Husky to win the CAA Defensive Player of the Year award since Suzanne Hazelzet in 2007 and is the first Husky to ever win both a conference Defensive Player of the Year award and a conference Rookie of the Year award after earning the Rookie of the Year honor in 2019. It's the Norwich, England native's third All-CAA First Team honor.

Graves, the Topsfield, Massachusetts native, slotted home six goals and had six assists this season to earn her second consecutive All-CAA First Team nod. Graves scored twice against No. 12 Boston College on Oct. 17 and had a four-point outing against Towson on Sept. 29.
Taylor, a Norwich, England native, scored three goals and had four assists in just 11 games. She scored one game winner and had the Huskies' first goal of the season against No. 9 Louisville on Aug. 26, earning her second consecutive All-CAA Second Team award.

A back from Edinburgh, Scotland, Hart was the cog in the Huskies' backfield all season, making a defensive save and adding a career-high three assists. She didn't accrue a card all season en route to her second consecutive All-CAA Second Team nod.

Tied for the Huskies' lead in goals scored, Mega punched in nine tallies and added two assists during her freshman campaign to earn a spot on the All-Rookie Team. She continues the trend of seven straight years of Huskies being placed on the All-Rookie squad. The East Greenwich, Rhode Island native's goal mark was second among freshmen and tied for fifth in the conference. She scored twice in the Huskies' 6-2 win over Hofstra and at one point had a four-game scoring streak.

The Huskies are back in action Friday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. as they take on Monmouth in the CAA Semifinal at Fred P. Rullo Stadium in Newark, Delaware on FloSports.
