BOSTON — The Northeastern field hockey team kicks off its 2025 campaign with a game going into Labor Day Weekend, the Huskies will face off with in-state competitor Stonehill for the season opener Friday, Aug. 29 at 3 p.m. at Dedham Field.
The match up against the Skyhawks will be streamed on FloCollege.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
1. PRESEASON AWARDS: Junior
Alex Mega, was named to the 2025 Preseason All-CAA Team after a standout 2024 season, where she tallied five goals, four assists, and set a career-high with 728 minutes played.
Maya Prasad, another 2025 captain, earned honorable mention honors after appearing in 40 career games with 19 starts in her career. The Huskies were picked to finish third in the CAA Team preseason poll.
2. RETURN OF THE PACK: The Northeastern field hockey team wrapped up the 2024 season with a solid 12-7 overall record, including an impressive 5-1 mark in CAA conference play. Anchored by strong leadership from captains, the Huskies combined depth and experience to drive their success. Heading into the 2025 season, the team welcomes seven new players including five freshmen.
3. ONE LAST RODEO: The Huskies gained two transfers that look to make big impacts on the team during their last seasons. Goalkeeper,
Arabella Loveridge, joins the team from Indiana University where she earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors and was named to NFHCA National Academic Squad. Loveridge was previously a member of the New Zealand U18 Women's Squad and the New Zealand U21 Team. Secondly, graduate student forward
Laine Ambrose, joins the team from a nearby competitor, Boston College. Ambrose logged 25 games at BC.
Following the opening weekend, the Huskies begin the month of September with a game at UMass Lowell on Sept. 5 and a home game vs. Holy Cross on Sept. 7.
