BOSTON — The Northeastern field hockey team opens up road play on Friday evening with a matchup against fellow Massachusetts opponent UMass Lowell at Wicked Blue Field at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the team will return to home turf to play Holy Cross at noon. The matchup with UMass Lowell will be streamed on ESPN+ and the game against Holy Cross will be available on FloCollege.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- STARTING RIGHT — The Huskies began the season last week, starting on the right foot. Northeastern beat local opponent Stonehill (2-0) in the first game of the season. Goals came from Alex Mega and Jessica Garden. Arabella Loveridge won the CAA Defensive Player of the Week award following her shutout performance.
- FRESHMEN PHENOMS — Forward Jessica Garden scored her first career goal in her first career game against Stonehill. Defender Lucy Walton played all 60 minutes of the match to help clinch the shutout. Hannah Simon and Addison Polakoff also took the field for their collegiate debuts.
- HOCKEY HISTORY — Northeastern faces UMass Lowell for the eighth time, most recently defeating the River Hawks in 2024. The Huskies also hold a 16-1 all-time record against Holy Cross and will look to add another win.
The Huskies next host New Hampshire Friday, Sept. 12 and then onto a matchup vs. Ohio State on Sunday, Sept. 14.
