Infographic (Connecticut)CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Red and Black closed out the New England Challenge on Saturday afternoon with matchups against the Harvard Crimson and the Connecticut Huskies. NU was unable to take home any wins this weekend, making them eager for not only a win, but also a conference win with Hofstra on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. in Cabot Center.
The Huskies recorded 119 digs, 110 kills, 102 assists, 16 blocks and eight aces total in the two-day tournament.

Caterina Rosander registered a season-high of 11 kills, while
Brigitte Burcescu added to the offense with 15. Bredahl offered up 28 assists and
Kristen Walding tabbed 12 of her own.
The Huskies had one of their best blocking matches against the Crimson, with
Carmen Costa, Burcescu and Rosander earning four blocks a piece and
Hannah Fry earning three.
Ashlee Asada covered the Huskies' back line with 12 digs.
For the Crimson, Corinne Bain earned a double-double with 17 kills and 23 assists. Sindhu Vegesena picked up 12 digs, while Christina Cornelius registered nine blocks.
Set 1 recap: (25-22, Harvard)• Northeastern held a 7-5 advantage with kills from Rosander, Fry and Burcescu, mixed with an Asada ace and blocks from Costa and Burcescu.
• Harvard answered with a three-point run and took their first lead of the match, 8-7.
• The Huskies tapped into double digits with blocks by Rosander and Fry.
• NU entered the last quarter with kills from Rosander and Fry to even out at 22, but Harvard took a three-point extension to close out the set.
Set 2 recap: (25-23, Northeastern)• The Crimson opened ahead and was first to tag 10 points.
• The Huskies had enough and took control of the set with two, five-point runs.
• It was a battle across the courts as the teams evened out three times before set point.
• Northeastern was ready to seal the deal and posted kills with Fry, Rosander Bredahl to move on to the third.
Set 3 recap: (25-15, Harvard)• Northeastern registered 14 assists, 11 kills, 10 digs and three blocks total in the stanza.
• Harvard's offense posed early hurdles and continued to through the midway.
• The Huskies slowed down the Crimson with three straight kills from Burcescu, and others from Rosander and Costa, to get at 22-13.
• Costa put one away to hold Harvard at 24 but an error on NU gave away the set.
Set 4 recap: (25-21, Harvard)• A 3-1 run by the Huskies pushed the score to 11-9, in favor of the Red and Black.
• The teams evened out six times to the midway, but the Crimson took the lead, 16-13.
• Dizon tallied three kills while Rosander, Whitehead and Burcescu contributed to hold Harvard at 23, but the Crimson clinched the stanza after an error at the net.

Brigitte Burcescu paced the offense with 12 kills, while
Carmen Costa earned seven and
Cherylain Dizon had five.
Jamie Bredahl and
Kristen Walding supported the offensive attack with 19 and 14 assists, respectively. The pair also had the best hitting percentages with .625 and 1.000. Covering the back line was
Ashlee Asada with 13 digs.
Connecticut's Iman McGary had a match-high of 15 kills, while Rebecca Rivera put in 21 assists. UConn's offense was led by Rivera and Jade Strawberry, each with six digs, a well as Elizabeth Kline with five.

• NU took a four-point run with kills from Costa to minimize the gap, but remained down by one, 16-15.
• The teams exchanged kills back and forth to the last five.
• A Whitehead kill held UConn at 24, but they returned with a swing to close out the stanza.
Set 2 recap: (25-21 Connecticut)• UConn entered ahead but with Bredahl, Dizon and Costa at the net, The Red and Black evened out the score at six.
• Burcescu found a hole on UConn to pull the score to 24-19.
• NU took a three-point run thanks to unforced errors across the net, but UConn shook it off offensively to take the set.
Set 3 recap: (25-16, Connecticut)• It was a battle to 10 points that UConn won with two leads.
• Walding and Costa gave NU a three-point run to push the Huskies into double digits.
• Costa, Rosander and Dizon continued to keep the Huskies afloat at 22-15.
• An unforced error kept NU in the match but a service error gave UConn the stanza.
