Senior Annie Hogan has been named Northeastern's Student-Athlete of the Week after posting three points in a pair of wins last week over Boston College and Maine. Hogan set a new career-high with two goals vs. the Eagles on Jan. 11, before adding an assist on the game-winning goal at Maine Jan. 15.
Hogan opened the Huskies' scoring against Boston College with her third goal of the season at 12:11 of the first period. Six more goals would follow-- including four in the third period-- as the Huskies registered a 7-4 win, the team's highest single-game output in over five years. Hogan's second goal in the game was also pivotal as it tied the score at 4-4 with 12 minutes remaining in the final period, opening the flood gates for three more goals before the final buzzer. The tri-captain then registered an assist on freshman Rachel Llanes' goal on Friday at Maine, which put NU ahead 2-0 in the second period. Northeastern hung on by a score of 3-1, with Llanes' strike proving to be the decisive tally.
Hogan is currently riding a four-game point streak, tallying two goals and five assists over that span. The Medford, Mass. native has 13 points in 21 games this season, tying her output in 35 games from last year. Hogan's nine assists in 2009-10 are tied for the team lead and also represent a new single-season high for the tri-captain.
Hogan and the No. 7 Huskies return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at No. 4 New Hampshire in a rematch of the Sun Life Frozen Fenway game. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
