Senior Consandria Walker of the Northeastern women’s track & field team has been named the Student Athlete of the Week after her two first-place finishes at the Boston Indoor Games last Friday.

Walker’s two wins at the Reggie Lewis Center came in the 55-meter dash and long jump with respective marks of 7.21 and 5.75m. The Hackensack, N.J. native’s leap was a season-best and qualified her for the ECAC Championship on March 6 while her preliminary time of 7.17 in the 55-meter sprint was also a personal best this year.

Northeastern’s tri-captain has five victories in as many meets this indoor season, including two 55-meter dash crowns, a pair of triple jump victories and her most recent long jump title. Walker won the 55-meter dash at the season-opening Jay Carisella Track & Field Invitational on Dec. 5 in 7.26. Walker claimed her two triple jump titles at the Harvard Open and Dartmouth Relays with the same measure of 12.01m, also meeting ECAC criteria.

The fourth-year multi-athlete has played a pivotal role in the Huskies’ two team triumphs this season. Northeastern bested eight other teams at the Dartmouth Relays on Jan. 10 and topped 16 other squads on its home track at the Reggie Lewis Center on Jan. 29.

Walker is one of five members to eclipse the ECAC-qualifying threshold this season. Walker joins classmate Brittany Moriarty (1,000-meter run), sophomore Saleena Abdur-Rashed (55-meter hurdles, 60-meter hurdles), freshman Eryn Wheeler (500-meter run) and junior Althea Charles (shot put, weight throw).

Charles is the lone Husky to have hit an NCAA provisional-qualifying mark in the weight throw on Friday with a mark of 18.95m (62’2.25). Her lob stands as second best in school history.

Northeastern makes its way north along the red line to compete in the Battle of Beantown in Cambridge on Saturday at Harvard’s Gordon Indoor Track.
