BROOKLINE, MA — Northeastern University exploded for four first half goals, including three in less than a four-minute span, to defeat visiting Towson 6-1 in an America East game Sunday at Parsons Field.

Fior D'Alize Arrindell had two goals for NU (6-3, 1-1 America East), while Sarah Broderick and Catriona Semple each had a goal and an assist. Kelly Williams and Lorna Dobbie had the other scores for the Huskies. Jeanine Tyler had the lone Towson (3-8, 0-2 America East) score at 9:08 of the second half.

The offensive explosion by the Huskies comes less than 48 hours after NU was shutout by Delaware in a game Northeastern had 18 shots and seven penalty corners.

Williams got the scoring started after taking a nice pass from Semple at 22:41 of the first. Arrindell then notched a goal on NU's first penalty corner of the day at 16:45. Broderick then took a feed from freshman Sara Webber to score at 14:38, and at 13:20, Lorna Dobbie blasted a shot for a goal and a 4-0 Northeastern lead at the half. Semple and Arrindell added goals at 17:43 and 11:06, respectively, of the second half.

Towson had several chances in the first half, coming up with five penalty corners, but could not score against the Husky defense.

Kathleen Madaus played the first half in net for NU, making three saves. Emily Roy took over in the second half and had two saves. Betsy Crossman made 10 saves for the Tigers.

Northeastern is now 6-0 lifetime against Towson. NU returns to action at home Friday night against league foe New Hampshire.
