Northeastern 8, Towson 0

Towson, Md. - Freshman forward Liane Dixon (Martha's Vineyard Regional H.S./Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) scored three goals, including two in the first 20 minutes of the game, to lead Northeastern University (6-1, 2-0) to its fourth straight win, an 8-0 AMERICA EAST victory over Towson University (2-7, 0-3) in Minnegan Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The Huskies' eight goals were two short of the Northeastern single game record and the most goals they've scored in a game since an 8-0 win over Vermont in 1998. The top offensive team in the league, Northeastern has now scored 26 goals in seven games.

Dixon, who had scored just one goal in the first six games of the season, gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead less than four minutes into the contest when she scored her first goal of the game. She upped the lead to 2-0 with 17:21 remaining in the half, scoring off a pass from junior Sarah Broderick (Harwich H.S./Harwich, Mass.).

The Huskies broke the game open in the final 10:48 of the first half as they scored four goals to take a 6-0 lead. Senior Krisanne Duchemin (Falmouth H.S./Mashpee, Mass.) and sophomore Sara Webber (Dennis-Yarmouth H.S./South Dennis, Mass.) each scored two goals in the decisive 4-0 spurt. Duchemin's unassisted goal with 10:48 left made it 3-0 before Duchemin assisted on Webber's first goal with 9:27 remaining. Duchemin's goal with 7:44 left in the half came off a pass from Broderick and gave Northeastern a 5-0 lead. Webber rounded out the first half scoring when she scored off a pass from junior Carley Cook (Manchester H.S./Gloucester, Mass.).

In the second half, freshman Mari Creatini (Newtown North H.S./Auburndale, Mass.) scored the first goal of her college career with 32:37 left in the game for a 7-0 lead. Dixon closed out the scoring with 22:11 left in the game as she scored her third goal of the game off a pass from Creatini.

The Huskies outshot the Tigers by a 27-12 margin as three goalkeepers combined on the shutout. Senior goalkeeper Betsy Crossman (Shippensburg Area H.S./Shippensburg, Pa.) of Towson had 15 saves.

Northeastern and Towson continue league play on Sunday as Northeastern travels to Delaware and Towson hosts Boston University.
