PRINCETON, NJ - The Princeton University field hockey team raced out to a 4-0 lead over Northeastern and held on for the 4-2 victory. It was Princeton's first game of the season.

The Tigers' junior Ilvy Friebe scored two goals to lead the way for Princeton. For the Huskies, juniors Sarah Broderick (Harwich, MA) and Maureen Connelly (Greenland, NH) provided the scoring.

Friebe opened the scoring at 16:12 of the first half when she was able to maneuver past several Huskies and fire a shot into the back of the cage for a 1-0 lead. Princton added to its lead before the end of the half, with a goal by freshman Ashley Sennett with less than five seconds remaining before the break.

The lead grew to 4-0 in the second half on unassisted goals by Friebe, at 21:27, and Rachel Becker, at 20:21.

NU got on the scoreboard when Broderick scored her fourth goal in the last two games, off a pass from Kelly Williams. Connelly then scored her fourth goal of the season with 2:43 remaining to bring the Huskies withing two, 4-2. But NU would get no closer.
