The Northeastern University volleyball team was too much for George Mason as the Huskies won 3-0 at Solomon Court on Friday night. The Huskies dominated both offensively and defensively as they out hit the Patriots .417 to .189, racking up 26 more kills. Junior Kira Batura proved her versatility once against as she put up her fourth double-double of the season with match-highs of 20 kills and 22 digs on .421 attacking. Senior co-captain Whitney Turner helped fuel the Huskies' offense as she finished with a match-high .533 hitting percentage and nine kills.
Five Husky Hitters had attacking percentages of at least .300 led by Senior co-captain Ashley Reeves who finished with a .300 attacking percentage for the fifth straight match as she added eight kills to the Huskies' offensive attack. Brittany Eukovich, the former CAA Player of the Week, continued to shine as she recorded nine kills with only one error for a .400 hitting percentage.
The Huskies high kill totals and attacking percentages were orchestrated by setters, senior Ivana Pavlisin and freshman Jessica Tkachuk. Pavlisin led NU with 27 assists and Tkachuk chipped in with 20.
Defensively NU got nice performances at the net from their captains as the team posted a season-high 12 total blocks. Turner posted six block assists and Reeves added four assisted and one solo. In the back row, freshman Libero Leah Neubeck played well with 17 digs and 17 service receptions with only one error.
Mason looked overmatched by the Huskies but got good performances from, their setter Katie Corcoran who tallied a match-high 30 assists, and outside hitter Jaqueline Kohler who added a team-best 13 kills.
The Huskies play their next match at home when they host James Madison on Sun., Oct. 1 at 2 p.m.
