Despite dominating Northwestern out of the chute in the first 30 minutes of action, the Northeastern field hockey team squandered a 2-0 lead as the Wildcats rattled off four consecutive goals for the 4-2 victory on Saturday afternoon at J.S. Coyne Field in Syracuse, N.Y.

Junior Kaela Barker and sophomore Allison Conti exemplified the Huskies' offense by scoring the first two goals of the contest. Barker drew first blood at 25:01 after corralling a rebound and slamming home NU's first goal of the year off the right post from about five yards out. A few minutes later, a Conti blast from outside the circle redirected past NW's Katie Lynch for the 2-0 advantage at the 28:15 mark. Junior Carolyn Malloy earned the assist on Conti's second marker as the Windham, N.H. native tried the initial shot.

The Huskies were awarded four penalty corners in the early goings, yielding a 10-6 advantage in shots through the first 35:00 of action.

Northwestern's offense took over and barraged sophomore netminder Lizzie Priest for the remainder of the contest. The Wildcats finished with an 18-15 edge in shots when the final whistle blew, but Priest stood tall by stopping 10 shots in her first outing of the year.

Chelsea Armstrong took matters into her own hands and netted the next two goals for Northwestern at 31:12 and 48:08. The first tally came after a broken Huskies' clear. Armstrong collected the loose ball and defied Priest after deking a defender at the top of the circle. The second goal came when Armstrong received a penalty corner setup at the top of the arc and slammed home.

Zoe Almquist converted on another penalty corner at 59”50 and Kaylee Pohlmeyer sealed the contest with a backhand shot from the top of the circle at 66:03 to close out the 4-2 affair.

Sophomore Crystal Poland, member of the preseason All-CAA team, led Northeastern with five shots while veteran Pam Aldridge and sophomore Nicky Graham each contributed three attempts, apiece.

The Huskies return to J.S. Coyne Field to take on host No. 8 Syracuse on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. The Orange crushed Northwestern in the opening game of the weekend, 6-1, on Friday.
