Behind a goal and two assists from junior forward
Carolyn Malloy, the Huskies earned their second straight win on Friday afternoon in a 5-1 rout over Quinnipiac at Sweeney Field.
Northeastern, much like its last two games, opened the scoring in the first half. Just 7:21 into the contest, sophomore forward
Crystal Poland slid the ball through the box to Malloy, who hammered it past Bobcat goalkeeper Amanda DeLouise for the 1-0 lead.
Malloy found her name on the score sheet again at the 20:05 mark when she saucered a pass to sophomore forward
Nicky Graham for Graham's first goal of the season.
Over six minutes later, Malloy served a penalty corner to the stick of junior midfielder
Kaela Barker, who set up senior back
Anne-Rieke Stuhlmann for Stuhlmann's second goal of the season. The goal came off one of Northeastern's 12 penalty corners.
The Bobcats replaced DeLouise with junior Nicole Lewis at the 30:23 mark, but Lewis didn't fare much better. Poland welcomed Lewis to the game by converting a penalty stroke at the 30:23 mark to give the Huskies a 4-0 lead.
The second half was quiet until the Bobcats finally got on the board at the 60:16 mark. Junior forward Kaitlyn Notarianni tallied her team-leading fourth goal of the season to cut the deficit to 4-1.
The three-goal lead lasted less than a minute, however, as Barker potted her third goal of the season with a beautiful chip shot over Lewis to put Northeastern on top, 5-1.
The Huskies dominated from start to finish, recording 28 total shots to just nine from Quinnipiac. Northeastern netminder
Lizzie Priest had an easy day, making just two saves.
Northeastern will look to make it three in a row on Sunday, Sept. 12 when it hits the road and take on No. 15 Boston University. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
