Huskies stay hot to win the Boston Indoor Games

Results

The Northeastern men's track & field team went two-for-two in scored events this indoor season after winning the Boston Indoor Games at its home track of the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday evening.

The Huskies were fueled by a pair of first-place victories from freshmen Eric Jenkins and Kaylin Miranda in the mile and long jump, respectively.

Jenkins laid claim to victory with a rapid time of 4:11.90 in the mile and qualified for the IC4A meet in the win. Miranda won his second-consecutive long jump event after clearing 7.23m (23'8.75) for the win. Northeastern dominated the long jump event, owning the top three spots after veteran Andrew Staples and newcomer Kemardo Tyrell jumped 7.22m (23'8.25) and 7.03m (23'00.75), in that order, for second and third positions.

Senior Jonathan Hall notched another second-place showing in the 500-meter run after clocking in at 1:04.84 while Evan Whetsell looped the track in 1:04.84 for second place in the 800-meter race. Alex Ianneta tallied another second-place performance in the weight throw, clearing 16.61m (54'6) to dispatch 26 other throwers.

The quartet of Sebastian Putzeys, Anthony Gentles, Andrew Snyder and Michael MacKenzie represented Northeastern's final second-place performance as the squad combined for a time of 10:22.42.

Rookies Collins and Jackson MacDonald put forth a strong showing in the 55-meter hurdles after finishing back-to-back with times of 8.03 and 8.15, respectively, for sixth and seventh place. Freshman Myles Mason accounted for a pair of 11th-place jaunts in the 55-meter and 200-meter run. Mason registered a time of 6.67 in the 55-meter dash and a punched in at 23.14 in the 200-meter dash.

In the 400-meter dash, newcomer Alex Shapiro and Anthony Gentles legged out marks of 50.58 and 52.81, in the order, for fifth and 22nd. Rookie Andrew Snyder marched to the tune of 1:55.54 in the 800-meter for seventh place. In the 1,000-meter run, freshman Brian Doyle crossed in 2:29.01 for forth place while second-year harrier Dan Grant elicited a 10th-place time of 2:23.49.

The 5,000-meter challenge consists of sophomore John Jantz and senior Joe Siravo's respective efforts of 15:34.10 and 15:54.72 for 14th and 20th place.

Collins, Whetsell, Shapiro and Hall closed out the events on the oval with a fourth-place performance of 3:31.29 in the 4 x 400-meter relay.

Sophomore Tejorn Davis made the podium in the triple jump, turning out a combination of 14.17m (46'6) for third place while newcomer Max Milder's toss of 16.16m (53'0.25) finished at sixth place.

In the shot put, senior Patrick Jablonski's uncorking of 15.67m (51'5) yielded fourth place. Freshmen Kevin Rosenberg and Charles Ebbs notched seventh and 13th-place lobs of 14.59m (47'10.25) and 13.70m (44'11.5).

The pole vaulters tasted some success as veteran Brian Daly cleared 4.42m (14'6) for third whereas freshman Dylan Lucas finished two spots behind his teammate in fifth after a vault of 3.96m (12'11.75).

Staples, MacDonald and Davis donned the black and red for Northeastern in the high jump. Staples cleared 1.98m (6'6) for fifth place while his teammates, MacDonald and Davis, jumped over 1.88m (6'2) to tie for sixth.

Northeastern returns to action on Friday, Feb. 4 at the Battle of Beantown.
