Starting off strong
Northeastern opened the season with a 4-2 triumph over No. 19 Merrimack at Matthews Arena on Oct. 10, marking only the fourth time the Huskies hosted a Hockey East opponent to begin a season. Northeastern is unbeaten (3-0-1) in season-openers against Hockey East foes on home ice, dating back to 1986.

Darling debut
Northeastern's season-opening win over Merrimack marked the first time it registered a victory in its first contest of the season since the Huskies defeated Providence, 3-2, in overtime on Oct. 19, 2007, to begin the 2007-2008 campaign.

Welcome to the show, rook
Freshman Kevin Roy potted the game-winning goal in Northeastern's season-opening win over Merrimack, marking the first time a rookie netted the winning tally on opening night since Jordon Shields turned the trick in an 8-2 win against the University of Illinois-Chicago on Oct. 30, 1992.

Starting off the shorties
Senior assistant captain Robbie Vrolyk's became the first student-athlete in the NCAA to score a shorthanded goal when he sealed Northeastern's 4-2 win against Merrimack with an empty-net shorty.

Wing clippers
With a 3-1 home victory over No. 1 Boston College on Oct. 13, Northeastern became the first team to knock off the Eagles since Jan. 21, a span of nearly nine months. It also marked the third time in the last five years the Huskies defeated the top-ranked team in the country at Matthews Arena -- NU defeated BC on Oct. 18, 2008 (4-3) and Feb. 19, 2011 (2-1).

Amongst the elite
The Huskies started 2-0-0 for the first time since the 1999-2000 season, when they topped Bowling Green and Massachusetts by identical 4-1 scores to open their campaign. After opening the 2012-13 season with a 2-0-0 record, the Huskies soared to No. 14 in the USCHO.com poll on Oct. 15, the first time Northeastern had been ranked in the top 20 nationally since Oct. 12, 2009.

Centurians
Four Huskies skated in their 100th career games during the 2012-13 season, including Chris Rawlings (Oct. 20 at BC), Drew Ellement (Oct. 26 at UNH), Braden Pimm and Robbie Vrolyk (both March 2 at Maine).

Mountain of a performance
Senior netminder Bryan Mountain's 44-save performance in Northeastern's 0-0 draw with UNH on Oct. 27 marked his first career shutout in the first-ever scoreless tie in 163 meetings between the two schools. The goalless battle was only the fourth in Northeastern's 81-year history – all of which have occurred since 2000.

Scoreless skating
The 0-0 draw with UNH marked the second consecutive game in which the Huskies blanked UNH at home (4-0 win on Oct. 14, 2011), only the fourth occurrence in program history.

Rawlings setting records
With a 3-0 shutout of Alabama-Huntsville on Nov. 10, Chris Rawlings set the Northeastern record for career shutouts with 10. Brad Thiessen (2006-09) previously held the record of nine, set on Feb. 27, 2009, in his 103rd career start. Rawlings' record-setting performance came in his 102nd career start. Rawlings later went on to post his 11th and final career shutout at UMass on Nov. 30 to set the new Northeastern benchmark in shutouts.

Non-conference notes
The Huskies won just their second non-conference opener in their last six attempts with the 3-0 triumph against Alabama-Huntsville on Nov. 10.

Short-handed winners
Adam Reid scored the shorthanded game-winner in the 1-0 triumph at UMass on Nov. 30, marking Northeastern's first shorthanded game-winning goal since Steve Quailer turned the trick against UMass-Lowell on Dec. 10, 2011.

No soup for you
Northeastern shutout three opponents in a span of nine games – a 0-0 draw with UNH on Oct. 27, a 3-0 blanking of Alabama-Huntsville on Nov. 10 and a 1-0 shutout at UMass on Nov. 30 – for the first time since Chris Rawlings blanked three opponents in four matchups from Jan. 15, 2011, to Jan. 28, 2011. It was also the first time two Northeastern goaltenders shut out different opponents in a single season since 2006-07.

Overcoming the Crimson
Northeastern's 5-1 win at Harvard on Dec. 29 marked its first at Bright Hockey Center since Jan. 12, 1978.

Ferriero's fantastic four
Cody Ferriero's four-goal outburst against Harvard was the first by a Husky since Ken Manchurek potted four against Boston University on March 6, 1982 -- a span of 11,256 days or nearly 31 years.

20 minutes: three power play goals
Cody Ferriero's four-spot included three straight power play goals in a single period, making him the first player in modern Northeastern history to score three straight man-advantage tallies in a period. Ferriero was also the first Husky to score three power play goals in a game since Dan McGillis turned the trick against Brown on Jan. 27, 1996. The last Husky to score three goals in a period was Ryan Ginand on Nov. 4, 2005, against UNH.

On another level
Cody Ferriero was one of only three players in the NCAA to score three power play goals in a game in 2012-13 (Chase Grant and Eriah Hayes, both of Minnesota State). His four-goal game was one of only three such instances across all of Division I this season.

Five alive
Kevin Roy's five-point performance (1-4-5) on Dec. 29 marked the first time a Husky has scored five points in a game since Mike Morris (2-4-6) and Jason Guerriero (2-3-5). Each accomplished the feat against UMass on March 5, 2005. He was also the first Husky to record four assists in a game since Ludwig Karlsson on Dec. 2, 2011.

Streakers
Eleven Huskies set or matched career-high point streaks in 2012-13, including Ryan Belonger (three), Dustin Darou (two), Cody Ferriero (seven), Josh Manson (three), Mike McMurtry (two), Steve Morra (four), Braden Pimm (four), Kevin Roy (six), Vinny Saponari (seven), Colton Saucerman (two) and Robbie Vrolyk (two).

Shaking the Agganis agony
Northeastern defeated Boston University, 6-5, on Jan. 18, marking the most tallies at BU since Feb. 28, 2004, and the most ever at Agganis Arena.

Beanpot theatrics
Kevin Roy recorded his first-career hat trick on one of the grandest stages; the first round of the 61st annual Beanpot Tournament. Roy became the first rookie skater to net a hat trick in his first Beanpot appearance since Boston College's Krys Kolanos on Feb. 7, 2000, in a 6-1 win over NU. The Lac-Beauport, Quebec, native became the first Husky to score a hat trick in the Beanpot since Mike Ryan netted three against Harvard on Feb. 8, 2002. Roy is also the first freshman to score the opening goal of the Beanpot since Boston College's Brock Bradford on Feb. 6, 2006.

Halting 25 years of history
Roy's hat trick also curbed 25 years of history against Boston University in the Beanpot. Northeastern's last win against the Terriers in the tournament occurred the last time NU raised the 'Pot: Feb. 8, 1988. 9,128 days transpired between Beanpot wins against BU, snapping a 15-game BU winning streak. Northeastern's win against BU means this will be the first Terriers' graduating class to not win a Beanpot since 1965. With the semifinal win, NU defeated BU three-straight times, marking the first time that's happened since the 1988-89 season.

Turning a new (offensive) leaf
Defenseman Josh Manson scored his first three career goals in consecutive fashion from Feb. 19 to Feb. 23. Manson kick started the scoring spurt by potting his first-ever tally in overtime game winning fashion at Massachusetts on Feb. 19 to help the Huskies to a 5-4 victory. With Manson's goal, Northeastern won just its second game in four years after trailing through two periods of play. The last time the Huskies came back and won a game after facing a deficit heading into the third period was at UMass Lowell on Feb. 11, 2011, when Jamie Oleksiak put away the walkoff tally at 4:46 of the overtime frame.

Saucy
At Maine on March 2, Colton Saucerman scored his first two career power play goals in a big spot, converting both the Huskies' markers in a 5-on-3 situation. The Colorado Springs, Colo., native also added an assist on Cody Ferriero's power play goal, counting for his first-ever multi-point performance as a Husky (2-1-3).
