BOSTON – The Huskies return home for a pair of matches this Friday and Sunday at Cabot Center. To start the weekend, Northeastern welcomes Charleston for a 7 p.m. match-up, looking to upend the conference leaders after going down 3-0 in late September. The Huskies will celebrate the senior class on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. against the UNCW Seahawks. Northeastern began its impressive conference run with a 3-1 win in its season opener at Wilmington.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS AND SEAHAWKS
Leading up to the final games of the regular season, Charleston and UNCW head to Boston, the Cougars on a 3-0 run and the Seahawks trying to snap a two-game losing streak to boost their chances of seeing post-season action.

UNCW recently topped Charleston 3-2 but the Cougars bounced back grabbing 3-1 wins over Elon and Towson and a 3-0 win over Delaware.

Charleston plays a strong game all over the court while UNCW is more defensively oriented. The Seahawks rank first in the conference in both digs and blocks per set while Charleston ranks in the top three in digs, kills and assists.

LAST TIME OUT
On Wednesday, Northeastern notched it's fifth five set match of the season, but was edged by Hofstra in the final frame. The Huskies played very strong through the first four sets (22-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-16), but a substantial lead by the Pride in set five proved to be too far to catch.

Kristen Walding tallied her seventh double-double of the season with 55 assists and 11 digs. Walding also notched her 600th career dig in the middle of set one. Additionally, Hannah Fry put down her 300th career kill, one of 12 she registered in the five setter. Fry also blocked six Pride attacks, a new career high. This marked the second straight match Fry has broken her career best in blocks. Sherrie Wang totaled four aces, doubling her previous career high.

Jamie Bredahl led the team with 15 kills and teammate Caterina Rosander was right on her tail with 14. Rosander hit just two errors giving her a .600 hitting percentage for the match. Hannah Fry and Brigitte Burcescu also contributed double digit kills, recording 12 and 10 respectively. Eyl came close to her career high, just three digs short with 26.

COACHES CORNER
Head coach of the Huskies, Ken Nichols, is in his 17th season at the helm of the Northeastern program. Over his tenure, the Huskies have seen post-season action 12 times, earned one America East tournament crown, one CAA regular season crown and have gone to the NCAA tournament once. Nichols has led the team to three additional CAA title matches, dropping decisions to Delaware  (twice) and the College of Charleston. Adding this season's 18-7 record, Nichols is 295-216 (.577) with the Red and Black.

Head coach of Charleston, Jason Kepner, is in his 10th season leading the Cougars. Kepner holds a 235-88 record at Charleston including 133-23 mark in conference play. For the past 14 seasons, Charleston has either won the regular season title or the tournament title, a DI NCAA record. The Cougars have been to the NCAA Tournament four times under Kepner, all a result of claiming the conference championshop title.

Amy Bambenek has brought the UNCW program from the bottom of the barrel to its first ever CAA Championship title in 2015. In 2015, the Seahawks posted the most wins (24) since 1988 and the most wins in conference play (12) in program history. Bambenek has a 122-114 record at UNCW, which ranks second all-time for the Seahawks.

RIGHT ON TARGET
After 15 kills with zero errors at William and Mary and 14 kills with two errors at Hofstra, senior Caterina Rosander has propelled herself to the top spot in the CAA with a .372 overall hitting percentage. This season, Rosander has totaled just 24 errors on 349 attempts. Just six players in the CAA have tallied fewer errors, all of which have played less than half of the time Rosander has spent on
the court. Those six players average just barely over three attempts per set while Rosander goes up 4.36 times per set.

Not far behind Rosander is freshman Shaina White who ranks fourth in the CAA with a .324 overall hitting percentage. The rookie has hit 175 kills with just 41 errors on 413 attempts through the 2016 season so far.
