BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont erased a two-goal halftime lead en route to a 3-2 victory over the Northeastern field hockey team on Sunday afternoon.

The Huskies (2-2) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hang on for the win as Vermont (3-1) used three-straight second half goals to come away with the victory.

Five different Huskies finished with two shots on the day, while the Catamounts were led by Rachel Picci's four shots, three on goal.

Becky Garner made a season-high saves in net, while Lena Benwood stopped four, all coming in the first half of play.

Northeastern jumped on top early when, in the third minute of action,
Jamie Bartucca netted her second goal of the season to give the Huskies a fast 1-0 lead. Bartucca was fed by
Natalie Stewart across the circle to notch the first goal of the game.

Laura MacLachlan added to that lead in the 21
st minute of play with her third goal of the season, scoring for the third straight game. MacLachlan's goal came via a penalty corner, her second such of the season as she was helped out by Stewart, on the stop, and
June Curry-Lindahl on the feed.

The Catamounts evened the score quickly in the middle of the second half as Tess O'Brien and Picci netted goals within three and a half minutes of each other to tie things up at two-apiece.

The deciding goal came as the third-straight for the Catamounts in the 61st minute of action when Landon Warren netted her third goal of the season on the ultimate game-winner.

Northeastern will begin its 2016 home campaign on Friday, September 9 when Providence comes to Dedham Field for a 6 p.m. meeting between the two local foes.Â
