Underdown records double-double in loss to Harvard

Box Score BOSTON – Sophomore Amy Underdown recorded her fourth double-double of the season in Northeastern's 3-1 loss to Harvard on Friday.
 
The California native tallied up 17 kills and 10 digs, her second most kills of the season. Freshman Gabrielle Tschannen led the match in blocks with nine, while also racking up five kills.
                                                                                                                   
Athena Ardila and Natalie Shollin both recorded 11 kills and two blocks. Senior Brigitte Burcescu had a great night all-around, posting 12 kills, eight digs and four blocks.
 
Samantha Shupe and Kristen Walding combined for 44 assists on the night. Blanca Fernandez-Cuesta made her Northeastern debut in the four-set match.

Set One Recap:
  • 28-26, Northeastern
  • Harvard took a 2-1 lead and kept the lead until Tschannen's kill tied the set at 24-24
  • The Crimson had set point three times, each time the Huskies won the point to tie the set  
  • With the set tied at 26-26, Underdown's kill gave Northeastern the first lead of the set
  • Shollin's kill secured the set for the Huskies
     
  • Set Two Recap:
  • 25-20, Harvard
  • The Huskies went on a 3-0 run to take an early 5-4 lead
  • An Ardila kill tied the set back up at 14-14
  • Harvard went on a 6-1 run to take back the lead, 23-19
  • A kill by the Crimson's Grace Roberts Burbank gave Harvard the second set win
 
Set Three Recap:
  • 25-23, Harvard
  • Kills from Ardila and Walding gave Northeastern a 7-5 lead
  • Harvard went on a 9-1 run to take a 19-13 lead
  • The Huskies trailed by six, but went on a 4-0 to cut Harvard's lead to one, 19-18
  • A Shollin kill tied the set at 23-23
  • The Crimson came out of a timeout to score two points and win the third set
 
Set Four Recap:
  • 25-18, Harvard
  • The Huskies go on a 5-1 run to start the fourth set, with kills from Burcescu and Shollin
  • Harvard tied the set with an ace from Christina Cornelius, 9-9
  • A kill from Burcescu tied the match up at 12-12
  • Harvard went on a 7-1 run to take the fourth set and match win
 
Up Next For Northeastern:
The Huskies will face Boston College on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Cabot Center. It's Luau Night and students are invited to wear their best beach attire to help cheer on the Huskies.
