Field Hockey introduces four newcomers

Four new faces have been added to the 2019 squad

BOSTON – Head coach Shelly Morris has announced the addition of four new student-athletes to the Northeastern Field Hockey roster for the 2018 season on Thursday.
 
The 2018 recruiting class is made up of a pair of athletes from Pennsylvania, one from New Hampshire and another from Vancouver, British Columbia all of which have seen success both at the high school and club levels.
 
The foursome will also add some depth to the Husky offense, defense as well as the midfield as Northeastern looks to get back to the CAA Tournament for the second-straight season.

Lexie Dunleavy

Morris on Dunleavy: Lexie comes to us from a field hockey hotbed in Pennsylvania. As a midfielder, she is an explosive playmaker. She can generate a lot of attack from the middle of the field and distribute the ball very well. I am really excited to see what she can add to our attack.
 
Before NU: A four-year letterwinner at Henderson High School under head coach Jen O'Donnell … Served as senior captain … Named First Team All-Chester County and First Team All-Conference in her senior season … Earned Second Team All-Conference her sophomore and junior years and was named All-Chesmont Honorable Mention after her freshman season … A member of the WC Eagles club field hockey team … Also a member of her track team where she competed in the 100m and 200m her senior season.
 
Personal: Daughter of Tim and Christine Dunleavy … Has one brother, Jake … Mom, Christine, is a member of the West Chester University Field Hockey Hall of Fame and was a three-time All-American … In her spare time enjoys reading, swimming and hiking … Undecided in her major … Class of 2022.

Morris on Houston: Emily is a feisty, solid defender with strong core skills. She makes smart decisions in the backfield and positions herself well to intercept.
 
Before NU: A four-year letterwinner at Northfield Mount Hermon under head coach Francesca DenHartog … Served as senior captain … Named to the Western New England Prep School Field Hockey Association All-Star Team in her sophomore and junior seasons and was named MVP following her senior campaign … A member of the lacrosse and track and field teams while at NMH … Also a member of the Element Athletics Club Field Hockey team since 2012 where she has also been a captain since the 2016 season.
 
Personal: Daughter of Jarrod and Ashley Houston … Was an honor roll student and a member of the Dean's List all four seasons at Northfield Mount Hermon … Earned the C. Russell Bragg History Prize and was a member of the Cum Laude Society … Plans on majoring in finance … Class of 2022.

Sammi Pak

Morris on Pak: Sammi comes from a great high school and club team and already has a lot of experience playing at a high level with both of those programs. As a defender, she is very calculated with her tackles but also can add to the attack with her outletting skills and decisions.
 
Before NU: A four-year letterwinner for Wissahickon High School under head coaches Lucy Gil and Shelly Meier… Served as senior captain … Named First Team All-League, Second Team All-State, the Most Valuable Offensive Player, and to the NFHCA High School National Academic Squad following her senior season … Named Second Team All-League and Most Valuable Offensive Player following her junior year as well as Second Team All-League after her sophomore year and Third Team All-League after her freshman campaign … Tied for the All-Time Season Assist Record in her senior season … Also a member of the X-Calibur Field Hockey Club for the last four seasons … Helped her team at a Shooting Stars Pool A Championship .. NIT 2015 Pool A U16 Championship … JPOL 2016 League Championship and a NIT 2018 Pool H U19 Championship.

Kelsie Stephenson

Morris on Stephenson: I think Kelsie can change the dynamic of our attack. She has a very strong presence on the field, she is strong on the ball, and has great elimination skills. She is also a goal scorer with a vast shot selection.
 
Before NU: A member of the Rockridge Secondary Senior Field Hockey team for three seasons under Kathleen Fharr where the team finished in fifth place at Provincials and she was named Second Team All-Star in 2015 and she captained her team and earned Second Team All-Start honors in 2016 … Finished her playing career for Collingwood under Ashleigh Gold in 2017 where she helped her team to a first place finish at Provincials, an undefeated campaign, and was named a First Team All-Star in her final season … Also a member of the West Vancouver Field Hockey Club Premier in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons under the direction of Geoff Matthews … Helped her team to a second place finish in the league in Spring 2018 … In addition, played for the Rob Short Coaching Academy Travelling Team where she captained the team during the 2015 Festival and the 2016 CalCup to two gold medal finishes … Played in the 2015 World Youth Tournament in Amsterdam and finished the 2015 CalCup with a silver medal finish … A member of Team B.C. during the summers of 2015-17 where she helped the U18 B.C. Rams to a second place finish at nationals in 2017, the U16 B.C. Yellow to a fourth place finish at nationals in 2016 and the B.C. Blue to a second place finish at nationals in 2015 … In addition, played for Team Canada I.D. in November 2015 and 2016.
