NUFH opens CAA action this weekend at Dedham Field

The Huskies will round out their five-game homestand against a pair of conference foes this weekend

BOSTON – Conference action begins on Friday night at Dedham field for the Northeastern field hockey team. The team will kick off the conference season at home for the first time since 2015, when they face William & Mary on Friday at 6 p.m. and will wrap up the weekend against Towson at 1 p.m.
 
Both of this weekend's games will air on NESNplus.
 
Friday night will mark the conference opener for the Huskies, while Sunday is Alumni Day at Dedham Field.

  1. Who's coming to town?
 
HUSKIES VS. WILLIAM & MARY
• The first CAA contest of the season will come against William & Mary, a team the Huskies' hold an 11-7 series lead against
• The Huskies have faced off against the Tribe four times in their CAA Opener in the past with the Tribe holding a 3-1 record, though NU won the last CAA Opener against William & Mary in 2012
• William & Mary is led by Estelle Hughes, who has recorded seven goals on the season for a team-leading 16 points
• In goal, Morgan Connor has played the majority of time, coming up with 30 saves and a 3.78 GAA
 
HUSKIES VS. TOWSON
• The Huskies will wrap up the month of September, and their five-game homestand, against the Tigers
• The two teams have met 21 times in the past with the Huskies winning 18 of those contests, including a 2-1 win on the road last season to extend their win-streak over the Tigers to six games
• Towson has one just one game this season, a 4-1 victory over LIU Brooklyn, and are led by Katie McNeel who has recorded four goals and an assist on the year
• In net, Mackenzie Peacock has played the majority of minutes making 37 saves and posting a 3.34 GAA
 
  1. Opening the conference season

• Northeastern begins conference play this weekend against William & Mary
• NU is 18-12 all-time in conference openers, but 4-9 during CAA play, including a victory on the road at Towson last season
• The Huskies have faced off against the Tribe four times in their CAA Opener in the past with the Tribe holding a 3-1 record, though NU won the last CAA Opener against William & Mary in 2012
• The last time the Huskies began the conference season at home, came in 2015 against Drexel
