BOSTON – The Northeastern field hockey team is back in action on Sunday, Sept. 9 when the Huskies play host to No. 18 Wake Forest at Dedham Field at 12 p.m. This marks the second trip to Dedham Field for the Demon Deacons, while the Huskies are looking for their first ever program victory over Wake Forest.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. Home Opening Victory!

• Last weekend the Huskies took part in just one game, but it came in the form of a home opener against Holy Cross at Dedham Field
• For the 12th-straight meeting, Northeastern came away with a victory over the Crusaders
• The 2-1 victory was thanks in part to a pair of goals from Camille O'Conor and four key saves from Julia Gluyas

  1. Taking on the Atlantic Coast Conference

• The Huskies will face three ACC opponents in 2018, all of the games coming at Dedham Field
• Northeastern has faced every Atlantic Coast Conference team, with a field hockey program, at least once in program history, earning a victory over each of them, with the exception of one
• The Huskies and Wake Forest have squared off the fewest amount of times among all ACC programs (2), and the Demon Deacons have come away with wins both times

Northeastern vs. ACC programs
Boston College 23-16-1
Duke 4-4
Louisville 1-3
North Carolina 1-10
Syracuse 10-5
Virginia 1-4
Wake Forest 0-2
Total 40-44-1

  1. A whole bunch of ranked foes

• This season, Northeastern will face off against nine teams that were ranked in the preseason top-25
• Six of those games will come at the home confines of Dedham Field, including the next five home games, beginning against Wake Forest this weekend
• Since 2013, the Huskies have faced off against 32 ranked opponents, with 18 of those contests coming at Dedham Field
• The Huskies already faced off against one of those ranked teams last weekend against No. 19 Boston University
• The Huskies will face six ranked teams in their eight September games before being granted somewhat of a reprieve in October
• Northeastern is looking for its first win over a ranked team since a 3-2 victory over No. 8 Boston College on Oct. 5, 2014
