Battle of Beantown Results
The Northeastern men's track & field team remains unbeaten in team-scored events, eking out a one-point victory over Boston University in the four-team Battle of Beantown on Friday evening at the Gordon Indoor Track.
The Huskies sum of 159 points was just enough to take out the Terriers for their third team triumph of the season. Harvard, the hosts of the Battle of Beantown, claimed third with a mark of 131 points while Boston College's aggregate of 60 placed the Eagles in fourth.
Northeastern was paced by five individual victories, four second-place performances and seven third-place showings.
Newcomer
Kaylin Miranda continues to outdo himself as the local product broke the meet record in the long jump with a measurement of 7.36m (24'1.75) for his fourth victory of the season. It was the Boston native's best jump of the season and his feat surpassed the old standard of 7.03m set on Feb. 7, 2009.
Northeastern's quartet of rookies
Brian Doyle,
Andrew Snyder and
Eric Jenkins along with junior
Evan Whetsell also broke the meet record by joining forces in the 4 x 880-yard relay with a time of 7:45.82. The record surpassed the old benchmark set last year on Feb. 6, 2010.
Freshman
Jackson MacDonald registered NU's other victory on the track, topping out at 8.53 for the Huskies' best mark in the 60-meter hurdles this season.
In the field, veterans

Brian Racca demonstrated their leaping abilities with victories in the high jump and triple jump, respectively. Staples claimed victory with a measure of 2.01m (6'7) while Racca' combination of 14.29m (46'10.75) was not only good for the triumph, but stands as Northeastern's best mark in that even thus far.
Jenkins' pace of 2:28.25 yielded second-place credentials in the 1,000-meter run while senior
Adrian Li joined Staples on the high jump podium with a second-place finish of 2.01m (6'7). Staples recorded a second-place performance in the long jump after clearing 7.18m (23'6.75).

Veteran vaulter
Brian Daly's clearance of 4.55m (14'11) warranted third-place honors in the pole vault while classmate
