Day Two
The Northeastern men's track & field team wrapped up its final day of competition at the Duke Invitational on Saturday in Durham, N.C.
Freshman
Kaylin Miranda turned in the Huskies best finish of the day, landing a third-place performance in the long jump with a clearance of 6.95m (22'9.75). Veteran
Andrew Staples was the sixth-place finisher after a leap of 6.80m (22'3.75) while newcomer
Jackson MacDonald posted a 27th-place mark of 5.87m (19'3.25).
Rookie
Max Milder logged Northeastern's second-best showing, notching fourth place in the hammer throw after a heave of 53.10m (174'2). Milder's mark stands as NU's fourth-best mark in the hammer throw this year. Senior
Alex Iannetta and freshman
James Hall concluded the hammer throw in ninth and 11th, respectively, with distances of 51.12m (167'8) and 51.07m (167'6).
In the field, junior transfer
Darius Velez posted a 11.17 time in the 100-meter dash for 13th place while newcomer
Sean Collins recorded a mark of 15.28 in the 110-meter hurdles. Collins' jaunt was good for 12th place.
First-year sprinter
Alex Shapiro logged a 21st-place showing in the 200-meter dash after crossing the line in 22.73 while junior
Evan Whetsell made two laps in the 800-meter run in 1:55.27 for 22nd place.
Northeastern's 4 x 400-meter relay team of
Jonathan Hall, Collins, Shapiro and Whetsell combined for a sixth-place mark of 3:18.22.
The Huskies return to close out their home slate in hosting the Solomon Invitational on Saturday, April 16 in Dedham, Mass.
Day One
The Northeastern men's track & field started off the Duke Invitational on Friday with a pair of victories, including another impressive performance by rookie
Eric Jenkins in the 1,500-meter run.
The Portsmouth, N.H. recorded the sixth-best time in school history after crossing the line in 3:47.99. Jenkins' mark was the fastest time recorded by a Husky since 1997.
Freshman
Alex Shapiro won his heat of the 100-meter developmental dash, sprinting to the line in 11.08. Shapiro bested 14 others in the event.
Rookie
Kaylin Miranda was the seventh-place finisher in the 200-meter development dash after registering a time of 22.90.
In the 400-meter hurdles, captain
Jonathan Hall wrapped up his event with a time of 52.60 for fourth place while newcomer
Sean Collins ran in the same event, posting a ninth-place time of 53.80.
Continuing on the track, sophomores
Nick Ryan and Dan Grant ran alongside Jenkins in the 1,500-meter run. Ryan's time of 3:54.42 was good for 18th while Grant finished up in 3:56.60 for 21st place.
Senior
Patrick Jablonski represented Northeastern in the field, notching a sixth-place throw of 16.18m for sixth place while teammate
Kevin Rosenberg cleared 14.87m for 13th.
Freshman
Christopher Reider's heave of 54.67m in the javelin throw yielded an eighth-place finish.
