Alexander J. Struzziero has been elected to the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the sports of baseball, football and track.

The mighty mite from East Boston earned three letters each in football and baseball, and one in track, from 1938 to 1940. Perhaps best remembered by former New England coaches and players for his amazing exploits on the gridiron, Struzziero almost single-handedly won football games for the Huskies. As a small, 5'6, but dynamic fullback, Struzziero was feared for his brilliant sleight-of-hand and blocking ability on offense, and his crunching, touchdown-saving tackles as a safety on defense. He also kicked extra points for the Huskies.

In baseball, Struzziero captained the 1940 team which captured the New England Title. During his three varsity seasons, Struzziero played shortstop, second base, third base and the outfield or at whichever position he was most needed on a particular day. In the 1939 season, Struzziero banged two triples to beat Harvard, 10-8. Those were just two of hundreds of extra base hits in his career.

Between football and baseball, Struzziero was setting records in the 600 and 100 yard events for the track team. A former Lieutenant Commander in the Navy, Struzziero became an All-Star shortstop in the Boston Park League after graduating from Northeastern in 1940. He also remained active in football, earning the eminent Gold Pass for his 28 years of service as a Massachusetts High School football official.
